We have brought back the latest trends from Düsseldorf, where we attended EuroCIS 2025 – one of the largest retail technology exhibitions in Europe!
“Our insights were confirmed – self-service and smart solutions are increasingly optimising retail processes while simultaneously transforming the customer experience. In Lithuania, we have a high level of retail technology, but due to the small market size, retailers tend to avoid implementing the most expensive solutions,” shares Vitalijus Garbauskas, our team leader, reflecting on the exhibition.
Key Trends:
- Self-service checkouts, payment terminals, and kiosks – the variety of these solutions is expanding along with growing demand. Self-service is becoming relevant not only in retail but also increasingly in the service sector.
- Electronic shelf labels (ESL) are becoming the norm. They can be managed remotely, adapt to various conditions, and help save both paper and working hours. ESL is already widely implemented by Lithuanian retailers, and demand is set to grow further.
- AI-driven solutions for product recognition, age verification, and loss prevention are advancing rapidly. Smart cameras and AI-powered analytics are automating alcohol and tobacco sales while also protecting retailers against theft.
- Smart shopping trolleys are becoming more accessible. With integrated cameras and AI, these trolleys can automatically recognise products, weigh and scan them directly in the trolley, and even enable checkout without queuing. This payment method has yet to reach Lithuania – be the first to implement it!
